Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski took a big helmet to helmet hit from Jaguars DB Barry Church late in the 2nd quarter of the AFC Championship game. Church was flagged for 15 yard penalty for unnecessary roughness and Gronkowski missed the rest of the game.

During the AFCCG, the Patriots announced Gronkowski was out of the game following evaluation but they listed the injury as a head injury and not a concussion. Which is an important distinction because a concussion would force him to complete the NFL’s updated strict protocol on concussions in order to play in SB52 against the Eagles.
